At the first stage, draw auxiliary lines. They are very important because the dragonfly has a symmetrical body. The lines must be equal, of the same length. You can use the ruler.
Under the horizontal line we begin to draw the body of the dragonfly which consists of seven ovals. Each next oval must be smaller than the previous one. Draw the last oval a little more elongated.
Head and eyes
Draw the head and eyes above the horizontal line. The head must be slightly smaller than the eyes.
Draw a pair of smaller eyes at the top.
Remove the unnecessary lines
Gently erase unnecessary lines, leaving only the body of the dragonfly.
Draw the short antennas, connect them with the eyes.
Draw a pattern on the head using very small circles, add the nose and the pupils.
Draw the left pair of wings. Start from the head. The upper wing must be bigger, the lower one must be uneven and slightly smaller.
Remember that the dragonfly has a pattern on the wings. It resembles glued shards. That’s why, the pattern can be different.
Similarly, draw the right pair of wings. The wings must be of equal size.
Add small details on the head and eyes of the insect.
As we have said, the dragonfly can be of any color. The body is colored in darker shades, the wings are light but not of bright colors. The eyes can be colored with bright unusual colors.
