You can draw a cucumber together with your child. To interest your child you can tell him or her the following information:
- It’s strange, but the cucumber, to which we are so accustomed, came from India. At the foot of the Himalayas, this vegetable is still growing.
- Monuments and sculptures of this vegetable are in many cities.
- African cucumber looks like a banana.
- The ” mad ” cucumber during its ripening throws its seeds.
Upper part
Draw a circle on a sheet of paper slightly above the center. The figure should be flat that’s why use a compass.
Lower part
Draw the lower part below the upper circle. The circle at the bottom is much smaller than the upper one and it’s not under the first figure but a little bit on the right.
Connection
Connect the parts of cucumber with the help of two curved lines.
Extra lines
Erase the parts of the circles which are inside the outlines of the cucumber.
Tip
On top of the vegetable draw a small tip, curved to the left.
Leaf
Draw a leaf on the right side of the tip. The leaf is small but it differs from the leaf of the apple, for example. It looks like an incorrect inverted heart, depicted with the help of curved lines.
Pimples
Cucumbers have uneven peel. It’s covered with little bubbles. Draw these pimples over the entire surface in the form of circles and ovals.
Veins on the leaf
Draw thin veins on the sheet. First, draw the central line and from it – the side ones.
Spikes
Inside the bubbles, draw little ovals – spikes which cover the cucumbers.
Lines
The last detail – short curved vertical lines over the surface of the cucumber.
Coloring
Color the cucumber in the shades of green. For example, the surface of the vegetable is light green and the pimples are darker. You can do the same with the leaf.
